Boxing Picks Analysis: The 40-year old Thompson is a serviceable heavyweight that is awkwardly effective. Despite being four years longer in the tooth since the first bout, the tough D.C. native “Tony The Tiger” is a better boxer now than when he first faced “Dr. Steelhammer.” Klitschko has developed into the most dominating force in the heavyweight division since Lennox Lewis but during his reign he has faced a host of pretenders, tomato cans and retread heavyweights from years past. Out of those cast of charcters however, Thompson was one of the few foes that actually mixed it up with Klitschko and managed to win a few rounds. The southpaw knows how to fight inside effectively for a big man (6’5″) which is not one of Klitschko’s strong suits. The Wladimir Klitschko vs Tony Thompson Odds have the Over/Under at 9.5 Rounds with the Over at +140 moneyline at BOVADA SPORTSBOOK
Thompson has a high guard that is difficult to penetrate and has displayed a good jaw despite being stopped by Klitschko. By nature Wladimir is a cautious fighter and Thompson should be able to give him enough problems to take the champ the distance.
